Quaestor Coach enters Swiss wealth management market

Quaestor Coach announced today that it has entered the Swiss market with its first transaction of its unique buy & build strategy. The first transaction, Diem Client Partner (DCP), a Zurich-based independent wealth management boutique for high-net-worth individuals and institutional investors was completed at the end of December. Quaestor Coach is a Swiss-based passive independent private equity group specializing in a buy & build in discretionary wealth management. Since 2018, the key people of the company have acquired and merged 7 wealth managers to become one of the top 3 wealth managers in the Dutch market, with a solid track record of successfully acquiring and managing specific niches such as discretionary wealth management, private equity & real estate. Quaestor Coach relies on 11 European institutional investors to provide significant capital to pursue this buy & build strategy.

With the support of its new shareholder, Diem Client Partner (DCP) will represent the foundation of a buy & build strategy aimed at taking advantage of potential consolidation opportunities in the Swiss wealth management market. By leveraging Diem Client Partner’s state of the art organizational setup, dynamic management team and unique investment style, Diem Client Partner will represent a highly relevant platform to attract other excellent independent wealth managers. Diem Client Partner is known for its expertise and capabilities in income strategies, particularly hybrid bonds and equities plus options. The acquisition of Diem Client Partner provides Quaestor Coach with key wealth management capabilities and experienced senior professionals in Switzerland.

The DNA of Diem Client Partner will remain intact following the Transaction: client-focused, independent & entrepreneurial. Diem Client Partner’s investment style and team will also remain unchanged, and will benefit from the addition of complementary activities from its new shareholder across real estate and private equity investing. Diem Client Partner will serve clients’ multiple needs even further, while continuing to build value through inorganic growth strategies.

Sascha Peier, CEO of Diem Client Partner, states: “personally I could not have imagined a better and stronger entrepreneurial successor for our clients. The whole team is convinced by the entrepreneurial spirit of Mathias Vandermeeren, who also puts our clients first”.

Mathias Vandermeeren, Acquisition Manager of Quaestor Coach, states: “We are delighted to have concluded this Transaction with Diem Client Partner, which represents the first milestone of our strategy in Switzerland. We have been impressed by the quality of the Diem Client Partner franchise and its team throughout the transaction process, and we are looking forward to collaborate with Diem Client Partner’s management team to create a unique growth platform in Switzerland and tap into potential consolidation opportunities“.

Quaestor Coach is committed to building a strong national wealth management platform and developing a dominant position in the discretionary wealth management market. The goal is to grow both organically and through acquisitions in the coming years. A buy & build strategy will be pursued, aiming to take advantage of potential consolidation opportunities in the Swiss wealth management market. Quaestor Coach focuses on healthy and mature companies with a good and loyal management team and the goal of long-term value creation. The management teams of the companies Quaestor Coach invests in, work independently and are given the freedom they need to realize their ambitions.

Quaestor Coach was advised by Deloitte, Bär&Karrer and North Flow. The transaction has been approved by FINMA a couple of weeks ago.
